Tibet
Amnesty International

Sangdrol is a Buddhist nun who believes that Tibet
should be independent from China. She had been
sentenced to 18 years imprisonment by the
Chinese authorities for shouting slogans such as
'Free Tibet", singing pro-independence songs and
participating in peaceful demonstrations. She was
first arrested in 1990 (when she was 10 years old)
in Lhasa after taking part in a pro-independence
demonstration lasting less than five minutes.

years under then Chairman Claiborne Pell (D-RI)
with a variety of responsibilities including Deputy
and Acting Press Spokesperson and monitored
human rights and refugees issues, including those
of the Tibetan people. She also has worked for
Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party Mission in
the United States.

in her husband's death.

OneFamily Fund Organization

OneFamily Fund began with a selfless act by one
twelve-year-old girl. Michal was preparing for her
Bat Mitzvah in Jerusalem when a suicide bomber
struck a crowded restaurant. The attack murdered
15 and wounded 130 Jewish men, women, and
children. It was the most deadly attack in
Jerusalem since the beginning of the Intifadah in
September 2000.

Michal felt she could celebrate. They cancelled her
Bat Mitzvah and contributed the party's funds to
victims. She encouraged friends and family to give
the victims everything they planned to give her.

The Joyful Child Foundation

Samantha Runnion was a beautiful, bright and
joyful little girl. She approached each day as a new
adventure, eager to learn and play. On a summer
evening in July 2002, Samantha was abducted,
raped and murdered. Erin shares her grief of the
aftermath of Samantha's death and what
prompted her to help others through the Joyful
Child Foundation.
