Climb High Foundation
She began climbing mountains in 1998, 18
months after her second heart surgery. In
between starting business school and starting a
career with a top Wall Street firm, Alison
“accidentally” scaled the highest peak on each of
6 continents. In 2002 Alison was invited to serve
as the team captain of the first American
Women's Everest Expedition. An avid explorer an
adventurer, Alison also traveled across the Arctic
Circle on skis to reach the top of the world - the
North Pole. She now trains women in Uganda as
trekking guides that enables them to support
themselves for the first time in their history. The
women had been forbidden to go into the
mountains previously.

Patricia Yancey Martin
Purchase her book: Rape Work
Despite an increase in rape crisis centers and
improvements in the treatment of rape victims
over the past 30 years, many are still pervasively
mistreated by the police, doctors, lawyers, judges
and administrators who process them, according
to a Florida State University sociologist.
Patricia studied how the law enforcement, legal
and health care systems respond when someone
alleges that he or she has been raped. This
includes activities such as collecting physical and
narrative evidence, protecting the scene of the
crime, identifying, arresting and prosecuting
rapists, and aiding and comforting victims.
She found that most people who work with rape
victims are sympathetic to them and their plight.
